Water service to be temporarily shut off for portions of Honoka‘a
Hawai‘i County Department of Water Supply notifies the public that water service will be temporarily shut off for portions of Honoka‘a later this month.

Areas to be affected by the scheduled Tuesday, May 19, shutoff are:
- North side of Māmalahoa Highway (Highway 19) between Mud Lane and former Camp Honokāia, including Mud Lane, Mālie Place and Pali Road.
Service will be shut off from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and is necessary for crews to complete a waterline connection.
Upon resumption of water service, waterlines will be flushed and cleaned, during which time customers in the affected areas might notice turbid and/or discolored water.
They also could notice trapped air in plumbing, which will be released as they initially use water.
Affected customers are asked to take any and all precautions necessary to protect their property and facilities including, but not limited to:
- Disabling electrical power to pumps and/or any other devices that normal operation might be dependent on water pressure and/or water supply.
- Disabling devices that might be damaged if automatically energized during the water shutoff.
Affected customers also should set aside drinking water ahead of time to meet their water needs during the temporary service interruption.
Call Hawai‘i County Department of Water Supply District Supervisors William O’Neil Jr. or Darroll Naungayan at 808-887-3030 for additional information and with any questions.
