18 lane closures scheduled during week of May 10-15 on Big Island state roadways

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following 18 scheduled lane closures and road work projects on Big Island state roadways on weekdays throughout the week of May 10 to May 15.

HIGHWAY 11

HILO TO VOLCANO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 0.0 to 36, in the vicinity of Banyan Drive, on Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for removal of existing striping and installation of centerline rumble strip, striping, and pavement markers.

VOLCANO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 28 to 30, in the vicinity of Kīlauea Military Camp, on Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Hawaiian Electric to remove old poles and conductors.

HŌNAUNAU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 105 to 108, in the vicinity of Filipino Clubhouse Road and Government Main Road, on Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for tree trimming, cutting grass and shoulder work.

NĀʻĀLEHU

  • ROVING LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 62.2 to 70.4,  on Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installing thermoplastic striping.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 64 to 66., in the vicinity of Kaʻalaiki Road and Kamikina Street, on Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for cutting vegetation.

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction near mile post 110, in the vicinity of Nāpō‘opo‘o Road and ʻOnuli Road, on Tuesday, May 12 and Wednesday, May 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Department of Water installing a new line and water meter.

KEALAKEKUA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction near mile post 111, in the vicinity of Konawaena School Road, on  Wednesday, May 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Department of Water installing a new line and water meter.

PEPE‘EKEO MILL TO WAILEA (24/7 LANE CLOSURE)

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 11.5 to 15, in the vicinity of Overpass Road and Chin Chuck Road, on Sunday, May 10 to Friday, May 15 for pavement work. One lane open for alternating traffic.

PEPE‘EKEO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 13 to 16, in the vicinity of Leopolino Road, on Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15 for shoulder work. One lane open for alternating traffic.

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 14 to 16, in the vicinity of Old Māmalahoa Highway and Leopolino Road, on Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for vegetation cutting.

NĪNOLE

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 17.9 to 18.2, in the vicinity of Government Main Road, on Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work on Nanue Bridge.

ʻŌʻŌKALA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 29.8 to 32, in the vicinity of Kaawalii Road, on Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work on Kaholo Stream Bridge.

HIGHWAY 130

KEAʻAU TO KAIMŪ

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 0.0 to 21, in the vicinity of Māmalahoa Highway and Kaimu-Chain of Craters Road, on Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for removal of existing striping and apply new striping and permanent markers.

HIGHWAY 190

WAIMEA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 0.0 to 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lalamilo Farm Road on Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installing new striping and turn pockets.

HIGHWAY 200

WAIĀKEA

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 0.0 to 1, in the vicinity of Puʻu ʻŌʻō Volcano Trail on Monday, May 11 to Thursday, May 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installing curbs.

HIGHWAY 250

KAPAʻAU

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 3.5 to 4.9, on Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for emergency repair work on the road due to Kona Low.
  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 9.8 to 10.2, on Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for asphalt repair.

HIGHWAY 2000

HILO

  • SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile post 0.5 to 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for repairing and painting asphalt curbs and direction arrows.
