Kobayashi honored as Hawai‘i County Intern of the Year
A 2025 marketing intern at Hawai‘i Community Federal Credit Union was recently honored as Hawai‘i County Intern of the Year in the Private Sector category during the 2026 Hawai‘i Internship Summit.
Sean Kobayashi received the award, which recognizes outstanding internship experiences throughout the state and celebrates excellence in work-based learning.

Kobayashi is a student at University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and joined the credit union’s marketing department in the latter part of 2025. He supported a range of projects that strengthened internal operations and member-facing efforts during his internship.
“We’re really proud of Sean and all that he accomplished during his time with us,” said Hawai‘i Community Federal Credit Union Corporate Development and Marketing Manager Nellie Medeiros in an announcement about Kobayashi’s award. “He was thoughtful in his work, open to learning and always willing to help wherever he was needed. It’s been awesome to see his growth, and we’re so happy to see him recognized in this way.”
One of his key contributions included assisting with a comprehensive review of the credit union’s online reputation and digital presence, helping guide future strategies to better engage with member feedback and strengthen Hawai‘i Community Federal Credit Union’s visibility and responsiveness online.
Kobayashi also supported marketing operations, contributed to creative projects and assisted with updates to important member resources.
He took part in community-focused efforts, stepping in to support team members throughout departments while building positive relationships along the way.
Kobayashi was previously involved in the credit union’s youth programs, making his internship a natural next step. His journey from student participant to intern shows what’s possible when local students are given opportunities to learn, grow and stay connected to home.
Hawai‘i Community Federal Credit Union congratulates Kobayashi and looks forward to seeing everything he accomplishes in the years ahead.
