After receiving more than 9,500 applications this year, Vibrant Hawaiʻi is looking for partners to lead distribution sites for the Kaukau 4 Keiki program this summer.

Kaukau 4 Keiki is a summer-long meal program that ensures children continue to have consistent access to nutritious food when school is out of session.

“We are seeing the need clearly,” said Janice Ikeda, CEO of Vibrant Hawaiʻi. “Nine thousand five hundred applications tell us that families are counting on this program. To meet that need, we need more sites—and we need leaders in every community who are willing to step forward.”

Distribution sites in need of partners include Hāmākua, Honokaʻa, Kailua-Kona, Keaʻau, North Hilo, North Kohala, Nā‘ālehu, Ocean View, Pāhala, Puna Makai, Puna Mauka, South Hilo, South Kona, Waimea, Waikoloa, and Volcano.

Community organizations, schools, churches, nonprofit organizations, and informal neighborhood groups are encouraged to register. Vibrant Hawaiʻi provides training, coordination, and supplies to ensure each site operates successfully, so previous experience is not required.

Kaukau 4 Keiki will run from the week of Monday, June 15, through Friday, July 24, 2026, providing weekly food boxes to families across Hawaiʻi Island while school is out.

Site registration can be found online and will be open through Monday, April 20.
