Hilo theater seeks local talent for production of ‘Frozen: The Musical’

The Hilo Education Arts Repertory Theatre is inviting Hawaiʻi performers of all ages to audition for its upcoming production of “Frozen: The Musical,” a family-friendly stage adaptation of the popular animated film.
Auditions for the production are scheduled for Monday, March 30, and Tuesday, March 31, at the Hilo Palace Theatre, with organizers encouraging community members ages 8 to 80 to participate and audition.
The production is set to open on June 19 at the Hilo Palace Theatre and will run for two weekends.
HEART, a five-time BroadwayWorld Award-winning organization, has produced a range of musicals in Hilo, including “Dear Evan Hansen,” “The Lion King Jr.” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
“Frozen: The Musical” is based on the Academy Award-winning film “Frozen” and features music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, with a book by Jennifer Lee.
The stage version expands on the story of sisters Anna and Elsa and includes well-known songs such as “Let It Go,” along with additional material written for the theatrical production.
Organizers said the production is part of HEART’s ongoing effort to provide arts education and performance opportunities for the Hilo community while showcasing local talent on stage and behind the scenes.
