Ten teams to compete in HI-PAL basketball tournament Saturday

Youth teams from across North Hawaiʻi will participate in a day of friendly competition and community engagement during a Hawaiʻi Police Activities League 3-on-3 Invitational Basketball Tournament.

Ten teams representing Paʻauilo, Honokaʻa, Waimea, Waikōloa, and North Kohala will compete in a double-elimination format during the tournament at Ikuo Hisaoka Gym in Kapaʻau, beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The tournament will feature mixed teams of boys and girls across five age divisions: 6 years old and up, 8 years old and up, 10 years old and up, 12 years old and up, and 14 years old and up.

The event highlights Police Activities League’s mission to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the community by promoting positive youth activities, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyles.

The public is encouraged to attend this free, family-friendly, drug- and alcohol-free event and support Hawaiʻi Island youth athletes. Concessions, including food and drinks, will be available for purchase throughout the day.
