Present, future caregivers can register for free workshop in Keaʻau this weekend

Present and future caregivers can learn about brain aging, county resources, and building a care plan and team during a free workshop in Keaʻau this weekend.

The workshop will feature several speakers, including two Hawaiʻi Island State Representatives Chris Todd and Joy San Buenaventura, who will talk about bills in the Legislature that support family caregivers.

Other speakers will include Cheryl Dias, a caregiver counselor; Kimberlee Sato from the Hawaiʻi Aging & Disability Resource Center; Nic Los Banos, Alzheimer’s Association Hawaiʻi County program manager; and Audrey Suga-Nakagawa, AARP Hawaiʻi advocacy director.

The workshop is set for 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, at the Keaʻau Community Center, 16-168 Pili Mua St.

Caregivers will be able to learn about all the Hawaiʻi County resources available to them and their families while connecting with others in the same position in the community.
