The Kona community policing section of the Hawaiʻi Police Department will hold a Kūpuna Watch meeting on March 24 in Captain Cook.

The free event for seniors is conducted in partnership with the County of Hawaiʻi Department of Parks and Recreation’s Elderly Activities Division. It provides seniors with an opportunity to engage with officers during their regular activities at various county facilities in Kona.

The program will run from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Sgt. Rodney J.T. Yano Memorial Hall in Captain Cook.

The public meetings cover crime, traffic trends, reporting elder abuse, and identifying and preventing financial and internet scams. Each session also features police personnel from different divisions who explain their areas of expertise.

The program aims to build trust, promote safety, and foster positive relationships through face-to-face interactions between officers and community members.

Residents interested in further information can contact Sgt. Wyattlane Nahale at the Kona community policing section at 808-326-4646, ext: 259.
