14 lane closures scheduled during week of Feb. 28-March 6 on Big Island state roadways
Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following 14 scheduled lane closures and road work projects on Big Island state roadways on weekdays throughout the week of Feb. 28-March 6.

HIGHWAY 11
HILO TO VOLCANO
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0 and 32 in the vicinity of Banyan Drive, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 2-6 for removal of existing striping and installation of centerline rumble strip, striping and pavement markers.
MOUNTAIN VIEW
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 16 and 21, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 2-6 for cutting the grass.
VOLCANO
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 31 and 34, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 2-6 for cutting the grass.
KĪPĀHOEHOE
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 87 and 89 in the vicinity of ‘Ohana Road and Pāpālani Place, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 2-6 for cutting the grass and tree trimming.
HŌNAUNAU TO CAPTAIN COOK
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 105 and 109 in the vicinity of Filipino Clubhouse Road and Koa Road, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 2-6 for removal of existing striping, new striping and permanent markers.
KEAHOU
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 114 and 115 in the vicinity of West Honalo Road and Puʻuloa Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 2-6 for cutting the grass.

HILO TO ʻŌʻŌKALA
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 5 and 28 in the vicinity of Kāhoa Place, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 2-6 for cutting trees and shoulder work.
HONOMŪ TO HAKALAU
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 11.5 and 15 in the vicinity of Overpass Road and Chin Chuck Road, from today (Feb. 28) through March 6 for emergency zone work and pavement repair.
PĀPAʻALOA
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 22 and 24 in the vicinity of Uweki Road and Pāpaʻaloa Avenue, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 2-6 for mowing the grass.
ʻŌʻŌKALA
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 29.8 and 32 in the vicinity of ʻŌʻōkala Graveyard Road, on Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Kaholo Stream Bridge work.
HIGHWAY 130
PĀHOA
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 18 and 20 in the vicinity of Oneʻele Road and Old Kalapana Road, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 2-6 for mulching and shoulder work.
HIGHWAY 190
WAIMEA
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 0 and 1 in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lālamilo Farm Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 2-6 to apply for new striping.
SOUTH KOHALA
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 12.2 and 16.4, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 2-6 for applying new striping.
HIGHWAY 250
HĀWĪ
- SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction, between mile posts 17 and 19 in the vicinity of Mamo Street and ʻAkoni Pule Highway, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 2-6 for tree trimming and shoulder work.
