A man from Honoka‘a killed in a single-vehicle crash over the weekend was identified as 41-year-old Kasey Hui-Ahsam.

This is the fourth traffic fatality on Hawai‘i Island in 2026, compared to five this time last year.

The crash occurred at 11:35 p.m. on Feb. 7 on Mud Lane, about a half mile west of Honoka‘a–Waipi‘o Road. According to investigators from Hawai‘i Island police, Hui-Ahsam was operating a Honda four-wheel all-terrain vehicle while towing a trailer and traveling north when he lost control.

Hui-Ahsam, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was ejected as the ATV overturned and pinned him beneath the vehicle. He was found unresponsive at the scene.
