Hawaiʻi LGBT Legacy Foundation accepting applications for 2026 Rainbow Legacy Scholarships
Hawaiʻi LGBT Legacy Foundation is now accepting applications via the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation scholarship portal for its 2026 Rainbow Legacy Scholarships, supporting LGBTQIA+ high school seniors in Hawaiʻi who plan to pursue post-secondary education.

“More than financial support, the Rainbow Legacy Scholarship is a celebration of leadership, resilience and dedication to Hawaiʻi’s future,” said Hawaiʻi LGBT Legacy Foundation Executive Director Randy Soriano in announcing the application period opening. “Awarded individuals will help in shaping Hawaiʻi’s future, keeping diversity, equity and inclusivity at the forefront. Ensuring they have the resources needed to succeed and become their best selves now is just the first step.”
Scholarship recipients are awarded $2,000 to support education-related expenses.
Applicants must be rooted in Hawaiʻi LGBT Legacy Foundation’s vision of hope, equality, unity and service to the betterment of Hawaiʻi and the people who live here.
Eligibility requirements
- Be a high school senior planning to attend college or another post-secondary program.
- Be a legal resident of the State of Hawaiʻi.
- Have a minimum 2.5 grade-point average.
Preference is given to applicants who:
- Self-identify within the LGBTQ+ community.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Plan to stay in Hawaiʻi or return to the Hawaiʻi community.
- Show strong volunteer experience and service to Hawaiʻi.
- Submit strong letters of recommendation.
Applications can be submitted in English, ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian language) and Pasifika language.
Deadline to apply is Feb. 28.
