HFS Federal Credit Union raises $25K for Big Island kūpuna and Hawai‘i Island Adult Care
Caring for the growing needs of kūpuna on Hawai‘i Island is an honor that comes with increasing financial challenges for many. HFS Federal Credit Union realizes the need and embraced its promise to be a place where caring counts.

Monetary donations were collected throughout October at the credit union’s 6 branch locations to benefit nonprofit Hawai‘i Island Adult Care, whose mission is to provide ‘ohana with high-quality adult daycare and caregiver services to support aging in place.
The credit union was able to donate a total $25,020 to the adult care organization because of the generosity of community members — including many credit union members — during the fundraising campaign.
Funds will support the adult care’s Kūpuna in Need program, which helps subsidize services for community members who need extra assistance.
“We are thrilled to announce a successful fundraising campaign for Hawai’i Island Adult Care,” said HFS Federal Credit Union President and Chief Executive Officer Nathan Abe in a credit union release about the fundraiser. “The commitment shown by everyone involved is a powerful testament to our shared belief in supporting the vital work [Hawai‘i Island Adult Care] does every day to provide compassionate care and essential services to our island’s kūpuna and their families.”
Abe also thanked everyone who supported the fundraising campaign, making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.
A $25,020 check was recently presented to Hawai‘i Island Adult Care.
“We are extremely grateful for the generosity and partnership with HFS Federal Credit Union. They live out their motto of ‘where caring counts, and we are so grateful to be part of their annual fundraiser,” said Hawai‘i Island Adult Care Executive Director Andrea Wernli in the credit union release. “This support helps us continue to serve our caregivers and our kūpuna of Hawai’i County.”
