Update 11:32 a.m. Dec. 11, 2025: Hawai‘i Island police report that 14-year-old Ryan Carvalho, who was previously reported as a runaway, was located in Puna on Nov. 26 in good health.

He was reported missing on Nov. 23.

Original post: Hawai‘i Island police are asking for the public’s help in locating 14-year-old Ryan Carvahlo, who is reported as a runaway.

Carvahlo was last seen in the 1700 block of Leilehua Street in Hilo at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23.

Carvahlo is described as an Asian male with a fair complexion, about 5-feet 5-inches tall, 150 pounds, with straight black hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing black long sleeve shirt, Beige surf shorts, and black crocs.

Police ask anyone with information on Carvahlo’s whereabouts to call the police department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311 or contact Officer Cody Hirata at cody.hirata@hawaiipolice.gov.
