Hawaiian Electric pole replacement work causes partial road closures in Kona

Hawaiian Electric crews continue to replace utility poles in the Kona region — work which is requiring the partial closure of roadways.

Here are upcoming scheduled road closures:

• Today (Oct. 15): Closure continues thrugh 6 p.m. of the makai lane of Kuakini Highway, near the Kailua Village Condos, just south of Hualālai Road.
• Oct. 16-17: Closure of the mauka lane of Kuakini Highway, near the Hawai‘i Belt Road intersection, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and drive with caution when approaching the work zones.

Flaggers are at the work sites to provide traffic control.
