More than 20 slaughtered sheep valued at $2,500 were discovered with apparent dog bite marks earlier this week on a 200-acre Pāhoa ranch by Hawai‘i Island police investigators who are now seeking answers for how — and why — the small herd was killed.

File Graphic/Big Island Now

The incident happened sometime from Oct. 3-6 at a ranch in the 15-2000 block of Government Beach Road on a fenced property where they sheep were kept in a location on which hunting and trespassing is strictly prohibited.

It is a significant loss to the rancher and his business.
