Hawaiian Electric crews are set to replace a utility pole on Oct. 2 in Keopu in North Kona.

The project will temporarily close a section of Mamalahoa Highway during overnight hours — from 10 p.m. on Thursday to 6 a.m. on Friday.

The road will be closed between mile markers 6 and 7, just south of the Keopu Lani Road intersection.

During the construction work, motorists are encouraged to detour via Kuakini Highway and travel with caution when traveling near the construction zone.

Flaggers will be on-site to direct traffic. This work will be conducted overnight to minimize disruptions to commuters and local residents.
