Mauna Kea Stewardship authority to host its final community talk story in Hilo
The Mauna Kea Stewardship and Oversight Authority has scheduled its last Community Talk Story gathering of this series on Wednesday in Hilo.
“We look forward to engaging with residents in meaningful dialogue,” said John De Fries, executive director of the authority, in a news release.

Community members are encouraged to attend, learn more about the authority’s mission, and share feedback on the authority’s draft strategic framework.
On Sept. 3 in Laupāhoehoe, the Oversight Authority held the fourth community gathering.
This last gathering will take place from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Hale ʻŌlelo on the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo campus. It also will be livestreamed on YouTube.
The evening will include an overview of the Mauna Kea Stewardship and Oversight Authority, a discussion of stewardship priorities, and a Q&A with board members and staff.
“As we continue to build a model of stewardship that reflects the values and priorities of our island communities, it’s important to hear from as many community voices as possible,” De Fries said.
