Utility work scheduled in two North Kona locations

Hawaiian Electric plans to replace several utility poles during 2 days this week and next in two separate locations in Keōpū. (Image File)

Hawaiian Electric notifies the public that crews will replace several utility poles overnight in two separate North Kona locations, both of which will require portions of Māmalahoa Highway in Keōpū to be closed.

Pole replacements and road closures are scheduled:

  • 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Aug. 28-29, just south of the Lawaiʻa Road intersection.
  • 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sept. 4-5, just south of the Keolani Road intersection.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and to drive with caution when approaching and through the work zone. Flaggers will provide traffic control.

Work is being done overnight to minimize disruptions to the community.
