Single-family house and storage shed burns in Keaʻau on Big Island

The Hawaiʻi Fire Department responded to a two-unit structure fire at approximately 1:54 p.m. on Monday in Keaʻau, according to the fire department.

The single-family house and storage shed on Pelulehua Road were completely engulfed and nearly collapsing when firefighters arrived.

There were no people inside the units, and no injuries were reported, according to the fire department.

A different structure was also under threat from the flames, but by 2:46 p.m. the fire was extinguished.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and remains under investigation.
