The County of Hawaiʻi Department of Water Supply has issued a restriction notice for North Kohala customers effective immediately until further notice.

Due to previous equipment failure and high water use, a water restriction is necessary because only one of the three wells serving the region is currently operational. The Department of Water Supply has authorized emergency work to repair one of the inoperable wells as soon as possible.

Reducing water use will help maintain water levels in the storage tanks for all customers in the affected areas from Hāwī to Hālawa. The areas include:

  • Puakeā Bay
  • Kaʻauhuhu Homesteads
  • ʻAinakea Village Subdivision
  • Akoni Pule Highway
  • Mill Road
  • Maulili Road

The Department of Water Supply asks customers to conserve drinking water, use it wisely, and not waste it. To learn more ways to conserve water, visit the Department of Water Supply website, or email dws@hawaiidws.org.
