Native Hawaiian cultural values, traditions are shared during a monthly talk story in Keauhou
A monthly event features storytelling, mele, and hula for an evening of Hawaiian culture at the Outrigger Kona Resort and Spa in Keauhou every last Tuesday of the month.

Kumu Keala Ching is hosting the storytelling event, “Under the New Moon,” to bring together guests, locals, and ʻohana for an evening of stories that perpetuate the journey taken by Native Hawaiian kūpuna (ancestors).
Ching’s stories are accompanied by mele and hula from the kupuna (elders) of Nā Wai Iwi Ola, a community-based educational foundation that collaborates with organizations focusing on modeling and living Hawaiian culture, traditions, and values.
This month, stories will reflect how nā pua Hawaiʻi (the flowers of Hawaiʻi) have inspired the journey of kūpuna and the knowledge of the Hawaiian people today.
After the event, at least a dozen food trucks nearby will be open for dinner and continued conversation.
“Under the New Moon” will be at the Bayside Lawn of the Outrigger Kona Resort and Spa at Kaʻukulaelae from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, July 29).
