Overnight closures planned for portions of Māmalahoa Highway in Kona

Hawaiian Electric notifies the public that it has planned overnight closures for portions of Māmalahoa Highway in Kona.

Two road closures are scheduled from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. July 10-11 in the following locations on the highway:

  • Between mile markers 5 and 6, in the viscinity of Waiʻaha Road and Water Pipe Road.
  • Between mile markers 1 and 2, near Helani Congregational Church.

The closures are necessary for power company crews to replace utility poles along the highway.

Motorists are advised to use Kuakini Highway as an alternate route and to drive with caution if approaching the work zones.

Flaggers will be at the work sites to provide traffic control.
