Kailua-Kona man faces numerous offenses following execution of narcotics search warrant at his home
Hawaiʻi Island police on Thursday (June 26) arrested and charged a 54-year-old Kailua-Kona man with numerous drug, firearms and other offenses following the execution of a narcotics search warrant at his home in the 74-700 block of Pāʻia Place in Kailua-Kona.

William Kaohu is charged with:
- Five counts of first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug.
- Two counts of ownership prohibited (rifle/ammunition).
- Two counts of cruelty to animals.
- First-degree promotion of a detrimental drug.
- Third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug.
- Third-degree promotion of a harmful drug.
- Tampering with evidence.
His total bail was set at $669,000 and he remains in custody awaiting his initial court appearance.
Hawai‘i Police Department’s Vice West Section arrested Kaohu at about 6 a.m. Thursday after executing the search warrant. He was charged later the same day.
During the search of his residence and property, police recovered:
- 12.2 pounds of methamphetamine and various methamphetamine-related paraphernalia.
- 1.95 pounds of marijuana.
- 3 ounces of cocaine.
- 19 Oxycodone pills.
- 8.8 grams of marijuana extract.
- A .22 caliber Marlin Glenfield Model 60 rifle.
- Numerous rounds of ammunition (.22 caliber, 40 mm, 5.56 and .311).
- More than $21,300.
