Firefighters respond to blaze in Glenwood Tuesday night

The Hawaiʻi Fire Department responded to a structure fully engulfed in flames in Volcano on Tuesday night.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. last night, 10 firefighters from the Hawaiʻi Fire Department, along with two volunteer firefighters, responded to a structure fire at 11-2801 Mākoa Road in the Glenwood neighborhood of Volcano.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed the 50-by-20-foot structure fully engulfed in flames. No one had evacuated the building, and there were no victims inside the single-story residential home.

Firefighters spent about 1 1/2 hours extinguishing the fire and prevented flames from spreading to nearby brush.

According to the Hawaiʻi Fire Department, the cause of the fire is currently undetermined.
