Those shipments are arriving at Kawaihae Harbor and then being transported by 10-vehicle convoys to Pōhakuloa Training Area off Daniel K. Inouye Highway, also known as Saddle Road.

The convoy activity began May 18 and will continue daily through the end of this week from the harbor to the training area within the window of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Military vehicles with trailers continue using Queen Kaʻahumanu Highway out of the harbor area in Kona heading south, then turning onto Waikōloa Road until Māmalahoa Highway and then Daniel K. Inouye Highway, to Saddle Road until Pōhakuloa.

Convoys will use the far-right lane on all roadways when possible.

Motorists are advised to be aware of the higher numbers and possible slower speeds of military vehicles along their routes.

Hawaiʻi Army National Guard also provided the public with a heads-up that in mid-June, when its annual training is complete, its vehicles will convoy from Pōhakuloa Training Area back to Kawaihae Harbor for return transport to Oʻahu.
