Traffic crash on Highway 11 in Kona causing backups; avoid the area

Motorists are advised to avoid Highway 11 in the Keauhou and Hōlualoa areas as a traffic collision is causing backups.
Hawai‘i Island police have established a detour for the next hour where there is a contraflow of traffic on the highway between Kalele Street and King Kamehameha III Highway.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
