Flood advisory issued for portions of West Hawai‘i

A flood advisory is in place for portions of West Hawai‘i till 9:15 p.m.

At 6:08 p.m., radar indicated heavy rain falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Some locations that will experience flooding include Kailua-Kona, Captain Cook, Waikōloa Village, Honalo, Kainaliu, Kealakekua, Holualoa, Hōnaunau, Kahalu‘u-Keauhou, Pōhakuloa Training Area, Pu‘uanahulu, Kalaoa, Puako, Kawaihae, Hawaiian Ocean View, Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport, Waiki‘i, Waikōloa Beach, Mauna Lani and Miloli‘i.

According to the National Weather Service in Honolulu, minor flooding could occur on roads, poor drainage areas and streams.
