Hawai‘i Island police seek public help finding man wanted in connection to 2024 crimes

Hawai‘i Island police seek the public’s help finding a Nā‘ālehu man wanted on two outstanding warrants in connection to a burglary and operating a stolen vehicle, both of which took place in 2024.

Kaleo Mello, 23, is 5 feet 6 inches tall, 170 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair. He is known to frequent the Green Sands subdivision in Nā‘ālehu.

Police advise the public not to approach Mello as he is considered armed and dangerous, and to contact authorities immediately.

The Hawai‘i Police Department also reminds the public that anyone harboring or concealing a wanted person could face criminal charges being filed against the person who harbored or concealed the wanted person.

Anyone with information on Mello’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact Detective Donovan Kohara at 808-960-3118; or via email at donovan.kohara@hawaiicounty.gov.

They may also contact the police department’s non-emergency number at 808-935-3311.

Citizens who wish to remain anonymous can make an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 808-961-8300 and be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
