Update: Palani Road, between Henry and Kealaka‘a streets, again open

Update at 3:12 p.m. April 4: Hawai‘i County Civil Defense reports that Hawai‘i Police Department says Palani Road, between Henry and Kealaka‘a streets, is once again open.

That portion of the Kona roadway was previously closed because of a downed utility pole that resulted from an early morning traffic crash April 4.

Original post at 7:20 a.m. April 4: Portions of Palani Road will be closed for the next several hours following a vehicle crash this morning.

The crash occurred on Palani Road at the Konalani Street intersection. Hawai‘i Island police also closed Palani Road between Henry and Kealaka‘a Streets. Traffic is being detoured onto Manawalea Streets, Kealakehe Parkway, Hina Lani Street and Kaiminani Drive.

Police say traffic lights near the crash are out due to a down utility pole. The motorists are reminded to treat these intersections as a four-way stop.
