Ocean View structure destroyed in fire

No injuries were reported after a structure was destroyed by fire in Ocean View.

Hawai‘i Fire Department responded to the blaze Thursday at 9:46 a.m. When crews arrived on scene, 92-8200 block of Tradewind Boulevard, they found a Wooden-framed, double-wall 30-foot-by-30-foot construction of a single-family structure engulfed in flames, ready to collapse and spreading to nearby vehicles and brush.

According to neighbors, no one lived in the building.

Firefighters were able to get the flames contained to the structure. Additional units, including two tankers, arrived on scene and assisted with water shuttling and manpower.

Hawai‘i Island police responded to help redirect traffic through the course of the operation.

The fire was extinguished and overhaul was completed. The investigation into the blaze was turned over to police.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
