Scheduled Hawai‘i Island lane closures for March 23-28

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces the following lane closures and road work projects for the week of March 23-28.

There will be no contraflow set up and no lane closures, unless otherwise permitted, Wednesday, March 26, in observance of Prince Jonah Kūhiō Day.

VOLCANO

SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile postS 28.2 and 28.5, in the vicinity of Crater Rim Drive, from 8 to 11 a.m. March 24-25 for rumble strip installation.

NĀʻĀLEHU

SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile postS 58 and 60 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 24-25 and 27-28 for vegetation cutting.

HŌNAUNAU

SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 97.3 and 104.7, in the vicinity of Haleili Road and Filipino Clubhouse Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 24-25 and 27-28 for safety improvements.

CAPTAIN COOK

SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile postS 110 and 110.8, in the vicinity of ‘Onouli Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 24-25 and 27-38 for Hawai‘i County Department of Water crews to install a new waterline.

ʻŌʻŌKALA

SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile postS 28 and 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 24-25 and 27-28 for vegetation cutting.

KAWAIHAE

SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile postS 60 and 67, in the vicinity of ‘Ohina Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 24-25 and 27-28 for vegetation cutting.

WAIMEA

SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0 and 1, in the vicinity of Lindsey Road and Lālāmilo Farm Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 24-25 and 27-28 for paving and striping.

SOUTH KOHALA

SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 12.2 and 16.4 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 24-25 and 27-28 for paving and striping.

KAWAIHAE

SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile postS 0.3 and 0.8, in the vicinity of Spencer Beach Park Road, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 24-25 for bridge inlet and outlet clearing.
SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.1 and 0.9, in the vicinity of Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 27-28 for bridge inlet and outlet clearing.

HILO

SINGLE LANE CLOSURE possible in either direction between mile posts 0.5 and 2.2, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 24-25 and 27-28 for paving and shoulder work.

Lane closure schedules can change at any time without notice. All projects are weather permitting.
