A 37-year-old Mountain View woman is accused of helping Puna murder suspect 28-year-old Isaiah Kaleo Jiaan Fourshey elude police before he was shot during an officer-involved shooting the evening of March 4 off Highway 11 in Volcano and later died.

Jade Kiko

Office of the Prosecuting Attorney of Hawai‘i County reports that Jade Kiko is charged with first-degree hindering prosecution, a Class C felony, in connection with the search for Fourshey, who was wanted by Big Island police as the suspect in murder and attempted murder investigations associated with two early morning shootings the same day in Mountain View.

The complaint charging Kiko, which was filed Friday in 3rd Circuit Court, claims she harbored or concealed Fourshey and/or provided him with transportation as a means to avoid discovery, apprehension, prosecution or conviction in the murder and attempted murder cases.

Kiko was arrested at 10:30 p.m. March 4 on a failure to appear charge and released to district court, according to the March 6 Hawai‘i Police Department booking log.

Arrest information in the logs is preliminary and covers a 48-hour period. It is also subject to change.

She appeared Friday in Hilo District Court and was granted supervised release, despite objections from prosecutors. Kiko was ordered to return to Hilo District Court on March 24 for a preliminary heearing.

First-degree hindering prosecution is punishable by either 5 years in prison or 4 years probation and up to 12 months in jail.

The felony investigation was led by Officer Edward Petrie with the Hawai‘i Police Department Area I Criminal Investigation Section Crime Reduction Unit.

The case is being prosecuted by Hawai’i County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Kirsten Selvig.

The murder and attempted murder investigations stem from two early morning shootings March 4 in Puna, the second of which ended with the death of 25-year-old Latisha Soares and launched a daylong manhunt for Fourshey, who was thought to still be armed with the same handgun he was suspected to have used in the shootings earlier that day.

Fourshey allegedly first went to the home of his ex-girlfriend’s parents on Hibiscus Street in Mountain View looking for her, pulled out the handgun and shot at them before leaving after being told she was not there. No one was shot.

He then reportedly went to Soares’ residence, his ex-girlfriend’s sister, on Plumeria Street in Mountain View, kicked in the front door and shot at them multiple times, shooting and killing Soares.

Police tracked Fourshey down at about 6 p.m. Tuesday near the Nāmakanipaio Campground off Highway 11 inside Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park in Volcano. An officer-involved shooting ensued, during which he was shot.
