Māhukona Beach Park in North Hawai‘i, slightly less than 7 miles southwest of Hāwī off Māhukona Park Road makai (toward the ocean) of Highway 270, reopened Jan. 25.

The park’s reopening follows the completion of the demolition of the old pavilion because of safety concerns. Work to demolish the old and dilapidated building — which had not been used for several years — began Jan. 6, requiring the park’s closure.

Regular park hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Camping will continue to be suspended because of the absence of potable water, restrooms, showers and other amenities needed to support that amenity at Māhukona Beach Park.
