Hawai‘i County Department of Environmental Management is alerting the public that the Kealakehe transfer station will close early at 5:30 p.m. today.

The early closure is because of a staffing shortage with the transfer station’s contractor. The facility is scheduled to reopen for regular hours Saturday.

The department apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks the community for its patience and understanding.

Call the Department of Environmental Management Solid Waste Division at 808-961-8270 or contact the division via email at cohdem@hawaiicounty.gov with any questions.
