Deadline extended for county impact grant program

The County of Hawaiʻi Department of Research and Development has extended the application deadline for the Impact Grant Program to allow for more proposals aimed at helping Hawaiʻi.

The Impact Grant Program is an annual competitive opportunity for nonprofit organizations, educational institutions and state or county agencies to submit proposals for research, programs, or projects that have a positive impact on Hawaiʻi Island communities.

“The Impact Grant Program supports projects that provide measurable, positive impacts for Hawaiʻi Island,” said Mayor Kimo Alameda. “We encourage eligible organizations across the island to take advantage of this opportunity to help improve the quality of life for our communities.”

Eligible proposals must impact the following program areas:

  • Agriculture and Food Systems
  • Business and Industry Development
  • Community Well-Being
  • Energy
  • Film and Creative Industries
  • Regenerative Tourism

A total of $420,000 is available through the program, with each program area receiving $70,000. Grants on average range from $3,000 to $25,000 and matching funds are required.

The deadline for the application is on 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5. The awards will be announced on March 14, 2025 and the grant execution period will be from March 14 to June 14, 2025.
