Update: Hawaiian Volcano Observatory monitoring network fully restored
Update at 11:28 a.m. Nov. 18: The partial outage of the monitoring networking at Hawaiian Volcano Observatory that began earlier today was resolved at about 10:30 a.m. and the networking was fully restored.
The temporary outage was related to a power outage in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park.
The observatory’s data presented to the public might continue to be slow for the next day or so as the system downloads the instrumental data that could not be transmitted during the outage this morning.
Original post at 10:26 a.m. Nov. 18: Hawaiian Volcano Observatory on Hawai‘i Island reports it is experiencing a partial network outage that began just before 7:30 a.m. today.
Data coming into the observatory, however, are sufficient to detect major changes at Hawaiian volcanoes despite the outage.
Hawaiian Volcano Observatory staff are assessing the problem and working on possible solutions.
Restoration of data streams could take hours or days based on the complexity of the problem. Meanwhile, users of the observatory’s website will notice gaps in seismic and other data until the issue is resolved.
Hawaiian Volcano Observatory continues to monitor Hawaiian volcanoes closely and will continue to issue updates on a regular schedule.
