Update: One of two suspects in Hilo burglary identified, arrested and charged
Update at 11:49 a.m. Nov. 7: One of two suspects in a early morning burglary in September at a Hilo business was positively identified, arrested and charged Nov. 5.
Hawai‘i Island police report 47-year-old Sheldon Pagan of Hilo is charged with:
- Second-degree burglary.
- Second-degree theft.
- Third-degree criminal property damage.
Pagan’s bail was set at $43,000.
The burglary happened early Sept. 15 at a business in the 100 block of Kalanianaʻole Street. Two men were captured on video surveillance.
Information about the burglary with the suspects’ photographs was released to local media and several tips were received from the public, identifying Pagan as one of the two men in the photographs.
The other suspect has not been identified and is described as a local male wearing a dark top, ball cap and dark shorts. He had a beige wrap bandage on his lower left shin and a small beige bandage below his right knee cap.

Original post from 10:12 a.m. Oct. 24: Two men were caught on video surveillance during a burglary at a Hilo business and Big Island police are asking if anyone might be able to identify them.
The burglary happened between 9 p.m. and 3:30 a.m. Sept. 14 at a business in the 100 block of Kalanianaʻole Street.
One suspect was wearing a dark top, ball cap and dark shorts. He also had a beige wrap-type bandage on his lower left shin and a small beige bandage below his right knee cap.
The other suspect was wearing a long-sleeve green shirt, red and black ball cap and dark pants.
