Big Island lane closures for week of Oct. 5-11

The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation provided the list of lane closures for the week of Oct. 5-11.

Lane closure schedules can change at any time and all projects are weather permitting. A map of lane closures can be found here.

MAMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 11)

  • HILO: A single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway is possible in either direction, between mile post 0 to 5, in the vicinity of Banyan Drive and Ikaika Lane, on Oct. 7-11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for grass cutting. 
  • HILO: A single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway is possible in either direction, between mile post 1 to 5, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue, on Oct. 7-11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting. 
  • HILO TO PAPAIKOU: A single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway is possible in either direction, between mile post 2.7 to 8, in the vicinity of Kanoa Street and Indian Tree Road, on Oct. 7-11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for grass cutting. 
  • MOUNTAIN VIEW (WEEKEND WORK):  A single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway is possible in either direction, between mile post 15 to 17, in the vicinity of North Kopua Road, on Oct. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.  
  • PAHALA (WEEKEND WORK): A single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway is possible in either direction, between mile post 45 to 52, in the vicinity of Maile Street, on Oct. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.  
  • NĀʻĀLEHU: A single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway is possible in either direction, between mile post 60.5 to 66, in the vicinity of Kaulia Road, on Oct. 7-11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting. 
  • NĀʻĀLEHU: A single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway is possible in either direction, between mile post 65 to 66, in the vicinity of Kaʻaluʻalu Road and Kaulia Road, on Oct. 7 -11, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for grass cutting. 
  • HŌNAUNAU: A single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway is possible in either direction, between mile post 89 to 93, in the vicinity of Papalani Road and ʻŌhiʻa Malu Road, on Oct. 7-11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for grass cutting and shoulder work. 
  • HŌNAUNAU: A single lane closure on Mamalahoa Highway is possible in either direction, between mile post 97.2 to 104.7, in the vicinity of Haleili Street and the Filipino Clubhouse Road, on Oct. 7-11, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for safety upgrades to the roadway. 

HAWAIʻI BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19)

  • WAIKOLOA (WEEKEND WORK): Single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road is possible in either direction, between mile post 69 to 71, in the vicinity of Hapuna Beach Road, on Oct. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for shoulder work and vegetation cutting.

KEAʻAU-PĀHOA ROAD (ROUTE 130)

HAWAIʻI BELT ROAD (ROUTE 190)

  • KAILUA-KONA: A single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road is possible in either direction, between mile post 19 to 20, on Oct. 7-11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for cleaning of drains and embankments. 
  • PUʻUANAHULU: A single lane closure on Hawaii Belt Road is possible in either direction, between mile post 20 to 21.4, on Oct. 7-11 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for tree trimming.  
  • KALAOA (WEEKEND WORK): A single lane closure on Hawaiʻi Belt Road is possible in either direction, between mile post 24 to 26, on Oct. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting. 

DANIEL K. INOUYE HIGHWAY (ROUTE 200)

  • WAIAKEA: A single lane closure on Daniel K. Inouye Highway is possible in either direction between mile post 7 to 10, on Oct. 7-11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for vegetation cutting and shoulder work. 
  • POHAKULOA: A single lane closure on Daniel K. Inouye Highway is possible in either direction between mile post 12 to 16, on Oct. 7-11, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for shoulder work. 
  • POHAKULOA (WEEKEND WORK): A single lane closure on Daniel K. Inouye Highway is possible in either direction between mile post 16 to 21, on Oct. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for shoulder work.

KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250)

  • KAMUELA: A single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road is possible in either direction, between mile post 6.2 to 10.6, on Oct. 7-11, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for application of permanent striping as part of the Kohala Mountain Road Resurfacing project.   
  • HAWI: A single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road is possible in either direction, between mile post 14 to 19, in the vicinity of Puʻuhue Road and Banana Ranch Road on Oct. 7-11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting.   
  • HAWI: A single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road is possible in either direction, between mile post 19 to 19.2, in the vicinity of Akoni Pule Highway and Millstack Road on Oct. 7-11, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for grass cutting.   

 PUAINAKO STREET (ROUTE 2000)

  • HILO: A single lane closure on Puainako Street is possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Kanoelehua Avenue and Komohana Street, on Oct. 7-11, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for paving the roadway and doing shoulder work as part of the Puainako Street Widening Project.
