It’s Primary Election Day!

This year, the mayoral race is packed with several community leaders going up against incumbent Mayor Mitch Roth. Hawai‘i County Council seats are also being challenged. Click here for the full list of candidates.

Several ballot drop boxes are set up islandwide and have been available 24/7. The boxes will close at 7 p.m. on Election Day.

So far, 43,923 ballots have been received out of the 112,872 ballots that were issued.

Below is a list of drop box locations:

• Laupahoehoe Police Station: Puʻualaea Homestead Rd., Laupahoehoe
• Hawai‘i County Building: 25 Aupuni St., Hilo
• Kea’au Police Station: 16-579 Old Volcano Rd., Keaau
• Pāhoa Police Station: 15-2615 Keaʻau-Pāhoa Rd., Pāhoa
• Naʻalehu Police Station: 95-5355 Māmalahoa Highway, Nā‘ālehu
• Rodney Yano Memorial Hall: 82-6156 Māmalahoa Highway, Captain Cook
• West Hawaiʻi Civic Center: 74-5044 Ane Keohokālole Highway, Kailua Kona
• Waikoloa Village Association: 68-1792 Melia St., Waikōloa Village
• Waimea Police Station: 67-5185 Kamamalu St., Waimea
• North Kohala Police Station: 54-3900 Akoni Pule Highway, Kapaʻau

In addition to the drop boxes, ballots may be brought to the Voter Service Centers in Hilo or Kona. Primary election ballots can be dropped off at these centers from now till Aug. 10. Ballots will no longer be accepted after 7 p.m. on Election Night.

The voter service center in Hilo is located at County of Hawai‘i Aupuni Center, Conference Room, located at 101 Pauahi St. Suite 1. In Kona it is set up at West Hawai‘i Civic Center, Community Room (Building G), located on 74-5044 Ane Keohokālole Highway.
