Registration is now open for the 26th annual ʻOhana Shoreline Fishing Tournament.

This year’s tournament is Aug. 16-18, and the Hawai‘i County Department of Parks and Recreation invites all interested anglers to register.

Completed registration forms must be mailed to the Recreation Division office, located at 799 Pi‘ilani St. in Hilo, and postmarked by July 23. Registration is mail-in only; no late entries will be accepted.

Separate divisions are offered for keiki 5 to 12 years old, teens, men, women, kūpuna at least 55 years old and ‘ohana. There also will be an art contest and invasive species division in which all entrants are automatically entered.

Entry fees per team are $35 for the men’s and women’s division, $30 for the teen and kūpuna divisions and $25 for the ‘ohana division. Checks should be made payable to the Hawai‘i County finance director.

Registration forms, along with tournament rules, are available at all county Parks and Recreation facilities islandwide, S. Tokunaga Store in Hilo, J. Hara Store in Kurtistown, Hawaiian Island Creations in Waimea and Pacific Rim Fishing at Honokōhau in Kona.

Weigh-ins will be conducted from noon until 1:30 p.m. Aug. 18 at Honoka‘a Sports Complex, located 45-541 Lehua St. in Honoka‘a.

Valuable prizes and awards will be presented to the top 10 heaviest fish in each of the 6 divisions.
