Hawaiʻi residents have a cool way to get some money back for being energy efficient while staying cool during the summer through the state’s energy conservation program.

The Hawaiʻi Energy Residential Rebate Program is available through June 2025 to help lower energy bills when island residents invest in energy-efficient appliances and installations, including air conditioning equipment, whole house fans, pool pumps and more.

“We’re pleased to unveil Hawaiʻi Energy’s newest residential rebates that not only help residents save money, but also promote sustainable energy practices that benefit our environment,” said Hawaiʻi Energy Executive Director Caroline Carl. “Air conditioning alone can account for up to half of a household’s monthly energy consumption. This is a great opportunity for residents to make energy-efficient upgrades, save money and stay comfortable during the warm summer months.”

The rebate program offers a variety of incentives including:

To ensure all households can benefit from lower energy bills, Hawai‘i Energy also offers additional discounts on energy-efficient appliances and water heaters for eligible residents who identify as low income or in geographically remote areas.

Rebates are available to residential electric utility ratepayers on Hawaiʻi Island, Lāna‘i, Maui, Moloka‘i and O‘ahu only.

Kaua‘i residents are serviced by a utility cooperative and therefore not eligible for Hawai‘i Energy rebates.

The rebates are available on a first come, first serve basis and subject to availability of funds.
