Big Island police ask for help with finding 18-year-old missing since January

Kainalu Kawaakoa Bergau

Big Island police are asking the public if anyone has seen 18-year-old Kainalu Kawaakoa Bergau, who was initially reported as a runaway and since reached “the age of majority” of 18.

Kawaakoa Bergau was last seen Jan. 22 in Hilo, when he left a home on Kino‘ole Street without permission.

He is described as 5-foot-6, 160 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes and a brown complexion. He is known to frequent Hilo and Puna.

Anyone who might have information about Kawaakoa Bergau’s whereabouts is asked to call the Hawai‘i Police Department’s non-emergency line at 808-935-3311 or contact Officer Corey Kaneko at 808-961-8843 or via email at corey.kaneko@hawaiicounty.gov.

Those who prefer to remain anonymous can call call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 808-961-8300.
