Hawai‘i Island police renew request for help in finding missing man

Hawai‘i Island police are again asking for the community’s assistance in locating 42-year-old Landon Fairbanks who has been reporting missing.

Fairbanks was last seen on Aug. 3, 2022, at noon, in the area of “Two-Step” beach near Pu‘uhonua O‘Hōnaunau in Hōnaunau.

Fairbanks is Caucasian, 6 feet tall, 220 pounds, with a mustache, goatee and brown eyes. Fairbanks also has tattoos on his right arm and a half-sleeved, Asian-inspired black tattoo with red flowers on his lower left leg.

He is known to frequent the Captain Cook and Kailua-Kona areas. Fairbanks also liked to camp at various beaches, O’oma in Kona, and Waimanu Valley in the District of Honoka’a.

Police ask anyone with information on Fairbanks’ whereabouts to call Detective Carrie Akina at 808-326-4646, ext. 277, or the police department’s non-emergency line at 808-935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 808-961-8300.
