2:58 p.m. April 25 update: The Hawai‘i Police Department reports that a portion of Highway 11, also known as Volcano Road, is now open to all traffic.
Original post: The Hawai‘i Police Department reports that a portion of Highway 11, also known as Volcano Road, is closed in Upper Puna near the transfer station in the vicinity of mile marker 24 due to a traffic accident.
The road will be closed so police can conduct an investigation. Old Volcano Road may be used as an alternate route.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
