Search continues for Pāhoa woman who has not been seen nor heard from for 9 months
The search continues for Big Island woman who has been missing since last summer and police are renewing their request for information from the public that could lead to finding her.
Shanice Ogata-Staudinger of Pāhoa was reportedly picking ʻopihi with a relative the morning of July 9, 2023, in the area of Kahakai Boulevard and Papio Street in Pāhoa at a spot commonly known as Hau Bush. The 29-year-old was separated from her relative and failed to return to their prearranged meeting spot later that day.
Emergency personnel conducted an extensive search of the area, including police using with a scent discriminating canine, the Hawai‘i Fire Department using a helicopter and personnel with the U.S. Coast Guard also searching. However, they were unable to locate her.
Ogata-Staudinger’s family has not seen nor heard from her since.
Big Island police continue to follow up on tips and have interviewed many of Ogata-Staudinger’s known associates, friends and family.
She is 5-foot-2, 150 pounds, local with a medium build, brown hair and hazel eyes. She has a dollar sign tattooed on her left cheek.
