A fire hydrant flow test is scheduled for Tuesday at Hilo Medical Center that will impact a portion of Waiānuenue Avenue.

The test will run from 9 to 10 p.m. Impacted customers include those along Waiānuenue Avenue between Pūnāwai Street, Waiau Street, including Rainbow Drive, Pu‘uhina Street, Punahele Street, Waimea Place and any other side roads and lanes.

The affected area may experience slightly discolored and turbid water for several hours after the test. Customers are advised to refrain from washing clothes and to store a container of water for their drinking needs until the supply of water is restored to normal.

Should anyone experience any unusual problems during or after the flushing period, call Department of Water Supply District Supervisor Carl Nishimura at 808-961-8790.
