Hawai‘i Island police investigate Waikōloa house fire

Hawai‘i Island police are investigating a residential fire that occurred in the 68-0000 block of Akaula Street in Waikoloa on Friday afternoon.

At 1 p.m., officers responded to a report of a residential fire at the Akaula Street residence. Upon arrival, Hawai‘i Fire Department personnel were on scene extinguishing the blaze. No neighboring residences/property received fire damage.

Neighbors reported that the owner was not home at the time of the fire. Fire companies from Waimea and South Kohala also responded to assist.

No one was injured in the fire and the residence is considered a total loss. HFD personnel are investigating the cause of the fire.
