A high surf advisory for west-facing shores of Hawai‘i Island is now in effect till 6 p.m. Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Honolulu, a large northwest (320 degrees) swell peaked this morning and is now slowly lowering. However, this swell will continue to produce advisory-level surf into the weekend.
Surf of 6 to 8 feet is expected.
Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous. Head all advice from ocean safety officials. When in doubt, don’t go out.
