A winter storm warning is in effect for the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa on the Big Island until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The National Weather Service forecast office in Honolulu says periods of freezing rain, mainly at night, will lead to significant icing. Additional ice accumulations of about half an inch can be expected.

Travel could be impossible.
