Hawai‘i Island weekly lane closures: Jan. 13-19

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announced weekly lane closures for Jan. 13-19.

There will be no closures and contraflow operations on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day unless permitted. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.

All projects are weather permitting.

—MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY/HAWAI‘I BELT ROAD (ROUTE 11) —

KEA‘AU

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 11) possible in either direction between mile post 7.25 to 7.36, in the vicinity of Kea‘au-Pāhoa Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 16 through Friday, Jan. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restriping of crosswalks, lane lines and directional arrows.

HILO TO PAPA‘IKOU (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction in the vicinity of Kahoa Place and Ka‘apoko Homestead Road on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting around guardrails.

PAPA‘IKOU (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 6.2 and 6.4, in the vicinity of Kapue Stream Bridge on Saturday, Jan. 13 and Sunday, Jan. 14 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for emergency repairs to Kapue Stream Bridge.

PAPA‘IKOU

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction between mile post 6.2 and 6.4, in the vicinity of Kapue Stream Bridge beginning Monday, Jan. 15 through Friday, Jan. 19 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for emergency repairs to Kapue Stream Bridge.

PAPA‘ALOA TO O‘OKALA

Single lane closure on Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 23 and 27.6, in the vicinity of Stevens Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 16 through Friday, Jan. 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applying new roadway striping and reflective markers.

— QUEEN KA‘AHUMANU HIGHWAY (ROUTE 19) —

KAILUA-KONA (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Ala Nui Kaloko and Palani Road on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for yearly drainage cleaning.

MAKALAWENA

Single lane closure on Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway (Route 19) possible in either direction, between mile post 88 and 89 in the vicinity of Kekaha Kai State Park on Monday, Jan. 15 through Friday, Jan. 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for work on drains, culverts and inlets.

KAILUA-KONA

Right side lane closure on Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway (Route 19) southbound, between mile post 94.4 and 95.2 in the vicinity of Hulikoa Drive on Thursday, Jan. 18 through Friday, Jan. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for survey crew taking measurements.

— KEA‘AU-PĀHOA ROAD (ROUTE 130) —

Single lane closure on Kea‘au-Pāhoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile post 0 and 5, in the vicinity of Hawai‘i Belt Road and Puakalo Street, on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for vegetation cutting and guardrail cleaning.

KEA‘AU

Single lane closure on Kea‘au-Pāhoa Road (Route 130) possible in either direction between mile post 0 and 1.5, in the vicinity of Hawai‘i Belt Road and Kea‘au Bypass Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 16 through Friday, Jan. 19 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for mowing and shoulder work.

— MĀMALAHOA HIGHWAY (ROUTE 190) —

KAMUELA (WEEKEND WORK)

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction, between mile post 6 and 8, on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for shoulder work.

PU‘UANAHULU

Single lane closure on Māmalahoa Highway (Route 190) possible in either direction between mile post 16.9 and 26.02, beginning Tuesday, Jan. 16 through Friday, Jan. 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for application of new striping and reflective markers on the roadway.

— KOHALA MOUNTAIN ROAD (ROUTE 250) —

Single lane closure on Kohala Mountain Road (Route 250) possible in either direction between mile post 6.17 and 10.6, on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for resurfacing and reconstructing the roadway and weakened shoulder.
